Born in the Southside of Glasgow in 1971, Angela Hynd found her first creative outlet in the family Silversmith business, making hand crafted traditional Celtic jewellery. Encouraged always by her family to follow her own artistic path, she took up studies in Illustration, graduating in 1999.
Angela then worked for the London publishing industry producing book illustrations and covers. Between Illustration commissions a life long interest in Nature and Wildlife led Angela on trips all over Scotland. Inspired by journeys to the Isle of Skye and the north west encouraged her first attempts at painting in oils.
“My observational skills and patience for studying the subject have developed with my skill as a painter and I find that often Nature rewards me with ‘Gifts’, witnessing special moments that fill me with a childlike joy and wonder.”
Her work includes mostly Landscapes and Wildlife but also some figurative painting which Angela often refers to as “just a different kind of animal”. Years on, an appreciation and demand for her work from Galleries has meant that now, Angela finds herself working full time in her studio. Her work is included in private collections in Scotland, Germany, France, Portugal, Ireland and Hong Kong.
